NO HAZ FAQ - 248.858.5656
 What is Household Hazardous Waste?
Household hazardous waste is the unwanted or unusable portion of consumer products that contain substances that can harm people or the environment. Unlike industrial hazardous wastes, household hazardous wastes are not regulated. Most households can identify at least a few products as hazardous. Household cleaners, paint, pesticides, batteries and prescription medicines are just a few. They have made our lives easier but they can also be toxic to our health and our environment when we use them and when we throw them away.
 Who is Eligible?
Any resident of a NO HAZ Consortium member community can attend any collection event. Consortium member communities are Addison, Groveland, Lake Angelus, Lake Orion, Leonard, Oakland, Orion, Oxford, Oxford Towsnhip, Rochester, Rochester Hills and Waterford Township.
If your community is not listed, you may participate in the NO HAZ collection events for a $60 charge to be collected at the event. You may want to also contact your city, village or township office to see if any other programs are available to you.

What is the NO HAZ Consortium?
Several Oakland County communities provide residents a safe, reliable and an environmentally responsible way to dispose of household hazardous waste (HHW). Any resident in any NO HAZ Community may participate in HHW collection events, but residents are asked to only attend one collection event per year.
What Happens to the Collected Household Hazardous Waste?
All HHW collected is handled by a household hazardous waste vendor in accordance with local, state, and federal regulations. Depending on the material type, some items are recycled, some are used as energy recovery (blended and used as fuel) and some are disposed of in a hazardous waste landfill.
 How do I Volunteer?
Assist your local communities and see how the NO HAZ program helps divert the household hazardous waste stream from going into our local landfills. We want to see you at our next collection event.
