I currently reside in Troy with my wife Julie and daughter Alexandra. I was born and raised in Oakland County, attending St. Hugo of the Hills for grade school and Brother Rice for High School. While in school I was extremely active in sports specifically Lacrosse and Football as well as involved in the community coaching multiple Troy Parks and Recreation youth basketball teams. I was recruited by Marymount University in Arlington Virginia for Lacrosse, I played Lacrosse at Marymount for Three years before returning home and finishing up at Wayne State University. From a young age my parents stressed the importance of giving back to the community and those in need, since then this has been a staple in my life and will continue to be a huge part of my life.
Current Position: Most recently, I have started with SourceHOV, which I previously worked for before starting my own business, CS Fasteners. I was brought in to work strategic accounts and within 6 months, I have had a significant impact on the business. I started my own company, CS Fasteners, in 2006 and have been running the company for the past 6 years. We are currently working with major automotive firms to license our fasteners for various uses within the business. I have had the good fortune to work with great mentors and investors within my own business as well as SourceHOV.
Charity/Community Involvement: I founded Toast for Tykes in 1999 with three of my best friends, and since its conception I have served as the Chairman of TFT. To date, the foundation has raised over $700,000 for pediatric causes across Michigan. We have raised money for Michigan Epilepsy Foundation, Camp Sponsorship's, Children's Hospital of Michigan, U of M Burn and Trauma Center, Kids Kicking Cancer and many more. After I completed my mission with Toast for Tykes, I realized I still have a strong desire to give back. I became Sponsorship Chair and Board Member for Leaders for Kids, a foundation that raises money for the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation to assist with pediatric research and other initiatives that support and improve the health of children. This past December we held our first annual Cheers for Children event. I was the head of sponsorships, bringing in over $60,000. The event went on to raise over $100,000 for the Children's Hospital of Michigan Foundation. I have also been the Head JV and most recently the Varsity B Lacrosse Coach at Brother Rice High School since 2001. I wanted to give back to my alma mater and help young men, achieve their maximum potential. I have coached and mentored hundreds of players over the years and helped place many of them get into leading universities across the country. With the help of the other coaches and of course the players, Brother Rice lacrosse hasn't lost a game in Michigan in 10 years.
Oakland County Involvement: I believe my greatest contribution to Oakland County has been the multiple charities I have been involved with, coaching with Brother Rice and doing my best to bring people and companies back to Oakland County. Oakland County is my home and I have watched too many people leave this area for what they see as greener pastures. I am dedicated to building businesses and charity organizations that bring recognition, jobs and income to Oakland County. I am most proud of the success I have achieved within both my charities and my business. I have built a well-known charity from the ground up, raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for pediatrics and started my own company. My desire to make this area a better place to live, work and have a family drives me to be the best I can be. This area and its people have raised me and I am dedicated to bringing business, jobs and people to Oakland County in whatever way I can.
Why vote for Ajay?: Having a father as a pediatrician my entire life, I had always wanted to become a doctor however, my life lead me in a different path. I decided to use the talent and skills that I had to affect the lives of children in southeastern Michigan in various ways. My roots are well rooted in Detroit and I am committed to making a difference in Oakland County both by continuing my philanthropic endeavors. I also look forward to working with Brooks and the rest of his staff to retain the great work force we currently have and also recruit top talent and new business back to increase the financial strength of the community.
