Workforce Development

Oakland County Workforce Development helps train and place unemployed workers by coordinating with the Michigan Works! programs locally. We also administer the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) and other employment and training programs for Oakland County Michigan Works! Agencies (MWA).

The WIA establishes programs to prepare adults, youth, dislocated workers, displaced homemakers and the economically disadvantaged for participation in the labor force. These programs provide job training and other services that result in increased employment and earnings, increased educational and occupational skills, and decreased welfare dependency, thereby improving the quality of the work force and enhancing the productivity and competitiveness of the nation.
